Your June Oregon Stories from 1000 Friends of Oregon

Notice anything different, Friend?

Last month, we relaunched our website for the first time in over a decade, including a much-needed upgrade to a modern, mobile-friendly system. This month, we're doing the same thing here, with our monthly e-news. Especially if you're reading this on your phone or tablet, you've probably already noticed quite a difference.

Meanwhile, we've started summer strong by kicking off the newest Land Use Leadership Initiative here in Portland, keeping key land use legislation on track in Salem, giving the keynote at the annual meeting of our affiliate group THRIVE Hood River, attending the American Leadership Forum's Oregon Urban Rural Connection Project leadership committee in Bend, continuing to serve on the Governor's Wildfire Response Council, and welcoming 2 new staff and the first of what will soon be a total of 5 summer interns.

All of this is made possible because of you. Thank you!

For Oregon,

Executive Director

The 2019 Oregon Legislative Session ends June 28th

Aaaaalmost There...

This year's marathon Oregon Legislative Session comes to a close on June 28th, with several victories just last week. Keep a pulse on where things stand as we near the finish line by visiting our all-new legislative session tracking page, following us on Facebook and Twitter, and keeping an eye out for action alerts. Stay tuned later this summer for our complete legislative wrap-up.

You've Got New Friends

Meet Jasmine and Nicole, our two newest staff members. As our Working Lands Engagement Coordinator, Jasmine Zimmer-Stucky (left, in green) works with our Farmer Advisory Committee, and with farmers, foresters, and ranchers across Oregon. As our Community Engagement Coordinator, Nicole Johnson (right, in red) works with Portland for Everyone, and with people and communities across the Metro region. Welcome, Nicole and Jasmine!

Thank you for helping us achieve high marks!

A Toast to Great Reviews

This month, we celebrate a new milestone for 1000 Friends of Oregon: approval from all 3 of the nation's major charity reviewers. We are delighted to announce that, in addition to our existing 4-star ranking from Charity Navigator and our GuideStar Gold Seal of Transparency, we have just received a Seal of Accreditation from the BBB Wise Giving Alliance. We couldn't do it without members like you.

Win a Year of Farm-to-Table

Sun-ripened apples and pears, freshly-cut peonies and pine...a whole year of Oregon's bounty could be yours. Make a gift by June 20th, and on June 21st (the first day of summer), you could become the newest member of the McCarthy Family Farm Club. It's one more way that support for responsible land use has its own (tasty) rewards!
